Metro Community Services matches a volunteer who provides a box of groceries once a month with an income qualified senior. This program helps alleviate the decisions many seniors must face between buying food or needed medications.
Metro Community Services maintains a small food bank filled through donations. The food bank is open each week from Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Due to the high demand for food assistance, Metro adheres to a strict policy of providing food to individuals once a month.
Pet food for seniors’ pets is distributed on a monthly basis as supply is available.
COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM (CSFP)
CSFP works to improve the health of low-income seniors at least 60 years of age. Qualified participants receive a monthly prepackaged box, which includes a variety of healthy foods to help supplement meals.
SENIOR MEDICARE PATROL (SMP)
Senior Medicare Patrol empowers and assists Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse. Volunteers are recruited to provide education to the senior population about how to detect scams and fraud.
Medicare Education provides assistance with choosing Medicare health plans, prescription enrollment, and Medicare savings programs.
Metro Community Services provides assistance to qualified individuals of all ages to access pharmaceutical company Patient Assistance Programs. Eligibility will depend on each pharmaceutical company’s guidelines. Metro acts as an advocate in conjunction with the physician and the manufacturer to obtain prescribed medications that may otherwise be unaffordable. Help may also be available for Medicare Part D recipients who find themselves in “donut hole.” Metro’s prescription assistance is a free service and available for those throughout Idaho.
ECHO (TELEPHONE REASSURANCE)
ECHO provides daily telephone reassurance to seniors, disabled persons, or isolated citizens to check their well-being and provide emergency follow-up when necessary. This is a free service and available throughout Idaho’s Treasure Valley.
Metro’s Representative Payee program assists individuals receiving Social Security, pay bills, and budget their monies. The Representative Payee program complies with Social Security Administration requirements and guidelines, and is available throughout Idaho.
